Hello everyone,
The subject of “body positive” thinking may be hard for some because our self image is a reflection of what we see in the mirror of feedback from our family, friends, school mates, work mates, and society in general. The advertisers show us “perfect people” and offer us all sorts of products and services to get us to look like “that.”
The truth is we are all already perfect just as we are! Oh, sure we can all improve in many ways, but to begin with we must understand and accept that to be human is to be normal. There is no perfect , there is no average. We are what out genes dictate, with a bit of room for improvement through modification of our habits regarding nutrition, exercise, rest, attitude, and others I can’t think of off the top of my head.
My point is we are all wonderfully made (see Psalm 139: 13 – 18).
I believe the reason a naturism life affords people an excellent body positive image is that we do rely on feedback from others to form our own self-esteem and self-worth. In the naturist communities people are accepting of one another without judgment and when we are naked together we see that all of us have flaws, all of us are not the perfect models that we are shown through the media. The friendliness, the sharing and the caring gives us confidence and boosts our self-esteem immeasurably.
In the textile world we are always judging one another by the clothes that we wear, by the hairstyles, by the positions we hold and so forth. When we come to a naturist resort and meet with friends of like thinking those values drop away and the acceptance and friendliness brings on a high self-esteem and self-worth in each individual.
